Woodyard Bar-B-Que

We have a list of 36 (?) bbq places we want to eat at around here. This one was the first place for me. I got two ribs (different parts), potato salad and a brownie. Service was pretty good, no issues, food was delicious, good price. Lots of flies, yuck, not super clean. I wouldn't dare to check their restroom.
For our trip to Nebraska we decided to order food from there to impress our friends with Kansas City bbq. It wasn't fun to work with this place at all. We made an order to pick it up at 4:30, but it wasn't ready even an hour later. So despite our planning ahead and making sure we're going to be ready to go at particular time we had to just wait there for another hour (?) while they were working on our order. Never again, thank you very much.
R.J.'s Bob-Be-Que Shack

All I remember is that we liked having breakfast there and that I liked their ribs and coleslaw.
Johnny's B-B-Q
5959 Broadmoor St, Shawnee Mission, KS 66202
Ribs were dry, potato salad was too spicy for me.
Emily enjoyed her Corn Dog Nuggets. Al enjoyed his food, I believe.

Fun little place for toddlers to play. A few slides, swings, a little bit of climbing. Not fancy.
Pricy if you go there once ($10?), but the annual pass is just $40, very good for Emily. We need to exhaust her every evening so she sleeps. This is one of the ways to do that.
We wish they would work til later in the day. Cause usually by the time Al comes home from work and eats dinner there is no point for us to go there.
PowerPlay Entertainment Center
13110 W 62nd Terrace, Shawnee, KS 66216
On their site it says
"Kansas City's largest indoor entertainment center. Huge buffet and tons of activities including Virtual Reality, Go-Karts, Bowling, WhirlyBall, Laser Tag, Ropes Course, Carnival Rides, Tilt-A-Whirl, and over 200 Arcade Games. Private banquet spaces seat 50-250 guests. Great for families, birthday parties, corporate outings, and church and school group field trips."
I never tried their buffet, so I can't say anything.
We love going there mostly to entertain our little daughter. There is a kids area where she can jump on the inflatable slide, ride a train and play with other things. She's not tall enough for other rides, but she's getting there.
CoCo Key Water Resort
(water park)
9103 E 39th St, Kansas City, MO 64133
We went there once so far. Fridays are a little cheaper, so we went on Friday. Not a lot of people were there which was nice. It's not a huge water park, which makes sense, since it's a part of the hotel. We ordered a few swim diapers in their online store, but they were out of diapers so they refund us the cost. Luckily, we had one with us anyways.
Emily enjoyed it very much. She loved the slides and swimming. Most of the equipment was too advanced for her, but she had a lot of fun anyway. I liked that their lazy river is fast. I did not like their locker system and changing room. Yikes. We had to change in the stinky restroom section, floors were dirty and full of hair. Use the flip flops. Lockers are $8, and a pain to open with all those codes. If you have an inpatient toddler, it's a nightmare to use them.
We decided to not eat at their cafe, because of the prices. Went out to eat pizza instead.
Matt Ross Community Center
8101 Marty St, Overland Park, KS 66204
Very impressed. As usual, we went there to entertain /exhaust our sweet daughter. There is a climbing room for toddlers, all nice and clean, for free. There is a gym for adults and a playing room for kids only $2 per hour, where they'll watch your kiddo while you are working out. And there is a swimming pool for $7 each person. Membership for the family - $240 per 3 months. Swimming pool has a laps area, a big swimming pool for kids with a cute turtle-slide, little fountains and another thingie. There is also a swift lazy river and a fun water slide, which Emily is too short for. I believe there is sauna as well, but we didn't check it out.
Changing rooms seem so nice after Coco key's experience, even though there are also hair on the floor. Another nice thing is that it's open till 9:30 so we can go there after Al's work all together. And there weren't a lot of people. The whole huge kid's pool was all Emily's.
